I've been wondering the same thing. With my luck they'll just make Camaros again
I'd love to see them use the 1st gen styling on the 5th gens if they ever do get around to making them again.

Well i think as long as Pontiac has the GTO then we wont see another firebird. I say make the GTO until a new Firebird is brought out then when production begins drop the GTO.

There not bringing the Firebird back FOR GOOD. The Camaro yes, but not the Firebird. Trust me, I would love for them too, but it's just not gonna happen. I guess we'll just have to settle for an LS2 camaro, which i have no problem with.

Scott (redplanet/fbodfather) has said the TA and firebirds are on indeffinate hiatus... due to the Solstice and GTO. plus the Camaro keeps getting bumped around also, I think they've gone through 3 platforms so far

that green "ws7" makes me sick...looks like a old school stang a bit......you know what i really doubt they can beat the 4th gen body...it just looks so mean....but if they did somehow make it look meaner it would have to be right outta hell

The GTO is nice, but it's not a Trans Am, and the market is different for each. You can't substitue one for the other.
The Solstice is also cool, but likewise is a different vehicle for a different market.
The camaro is a ugly, boring, flat sided econobox with sedan headlights, **** it, and all the supposed Firebird people who are excited about it, or willing to buy it, or worse, don't want to see their cars come back. If anything, those guys are the reason why there is doubt about it coming back. The chevy guys are at least true fans of their car and want it back come hell or high water. You don't see any of them saying "I hope it doesn't come back because they'd only ruin it" or BS like that.
Furthermore, what is the Firebird (or Trans Am)? Arguably, it's a body kit with different (better) interior options for the camaro. How hard would it really be to churn out some composite body panels and dress up the interior a bit, slap some badges on it, and sell Firebirds, Formulas and Trans Ams on a made to order basis? The answer is not hard at all and with extremely low cost to the manufacturer. It would have a higher price, but that's the way it's always been too, so that doesn't matter. And with the right Pontiac flair added, it would not only look 10 times better (again, as it ALWAYS has), it will also have the benefit of wider rubber being easier (just like the 4th Gens), which is also a performance benefit.
Pontiac is the performance division. Always has been since the time performance started to matter (early 60s). As such, there is absolutely NO reason not to have the Firebird back in the lineup, right along side the GTO and the Solstice. When it's a made to order basis with low cost composite body panels the only real cost, they would be profitable even if they only sold 100 of them. It would be stupid to not to this. But since we are talking about upper management of an American corporation, stupidity is to be expected.
I like that green concept retread. I'd like it better if there were minor changes to it, like dumping the fugly chevy chrome bar, maybe adding a bit if center protrusion (like the '67s), and some fender flares for a more 4th Gen hourglass look.
