Default Rare Car Drive it or not?

I'm sorry, I see so many people talk about rare cars and what they would do with it. Maybe I just don't get it. An LT4 SS or Firehawk. What was this car made to do? Haul ***. That's it. I understand wanting to keep things nice, I just don't see the point in having a car that sits in a garage under a cover. If SLP made one just one SS with a couple of turbo's, don't think I wouldn't drive the wheels off of it. Maybe I'm just an idiot but I want some other opinions on this too.

If there is a truly rare car, for instance the LT4 Firehawk with 27 miles on it thats for sale on ebay, I'd drive it occasionally on weekends to get some enjoyment out of it, and take very good care of it- keeping it stock. I wouldn't daily drive it though.

But yes, not driving a car is weird to me. Thats what they were designed to do. If you want a piece of art, buy a 1/18 scale model of the car, its a lot cheaper.

If the car in question will go for $340,000 on Barrett Jackson 20 years from now I wouldn't drive it. If it's not that kind of car then who cares? I drive my Firehawk on some weekends and it gets about 2-3k miles per year.

if you buy a car to look at it and not eventually sell it.. you're lame.. if you buy it as an investment.. good but you better be sure you get a lot more than what it was new...

i would drive it .. but i buy cars to drive, not look at.. if i wanted to look at the damn thing i would have bought life size glossy photo prints of it ..

if you're rich enough to buy a car and not drive it, you're ( more than likely )gonna be rich enough to rebuy it in 20 yrs. when it actually is collectible.....so drive the f'in **** out of it now and make the one you buy in the future worth more if you do want it again.

I drove my purple WS6 to work today, and I've put about 2500 miles on it since October. I drive it fairly regularly.

not driving cars is lame.

You will notice that fully restored "collectibles" often sell for as much as, or even more than an original mileage collectible. This is because restorations are often nicer and more detailed than the factory built originals.

so, drive the crap out of your cars, let someone else worry about restoring them later. Or better yet, drive them for 20 years and restore them yourself later.

That's what I'm planning on doing with my WS6. It's not in good enough shape to show, so I'm just going to enjoy driving it. It gets flogged more than my Formula does... I kinda feel bad that my Formula has been completely neglected for almost 4 months.

I would think theres a point where a car would be to valuable to drive.....A friend of mines father collects muscle cars and has quite an impressive collection... prob his most expensive car is a 69 Baldwin Motion Camaro 1 of 2 made 6000 original miles needless to say he dosent drive it....I would say 99% of 4th gen cars wouldnt fall into this classification...

I have a firehawk. I drive the $hit out of it. Turbo and forged motor full suspension. They are just cars and can always be replaced. All of the 4th gen f-body will not be valuable till we are all dead and gone and you can't find them anymore. So unless you plan on paying $34,000 for a car and just let it sit there for your grand children to have when there in there 50's. DRIVE THEM

If it is a truly valuable car then it won't make a diff if it has 1000 miles as compared to 60. Drive it on wkends.

My dad has a 70 Hemi Challenger RT... He drives the wheels off it, but its still nice as hell. As long as you keep maintenance up who cares.

Some people are shocked that my car has 29,xxx miles on it while still being stored for about six months a year ( MI ) and not a DD. I'm like WTF do you think I bought it for?? I say get your enjoyment out of it now instead of thinking too much about what the future may hold for it in terms of cash value. We could all be dead tomorrow!
