It was the same way when the 93' fbodies came out.. chevy thumping their chests, when the foxes ruled before that... its always a back and forth thing with Ford/Chevy. Me personally, I don't have a preference between Ford or GM.. I just happen to own a Ford right now.

The plethora of cars out there meant an enormous aftermarket, so quite often the fastest cars around were 5.0 Mustangs. Just because there were faster cars doesn't change the fact that a very large percentage of the fast cars were Mustangs.
