Quoted dyno numbers really dont mean anything, unless both cars were dyno'd on the same dyno the same day. You can't take as fact the posted dyno numbers of these 2 cars as a comparison.

Im at a lose as to what your tryn to say but i do think dyno numbers are just an estimate because i have been told different dynos will give you different numbers..... If im wrong let me know

Ford GT is an awesome car. I would take one over a 2013 GT500 in a heartbeat. I have some experience driving mid engined cars hard but nothing like that monster...

The first GT500s were about as fast as '03 Cobras. The '10-'12 cars were considerably quicker, and since you insist on using magazine times;

Also, there is a chart somewhere that illustrates all of the magazine tests, and in braking, handling, and acceleration, the the '13 GT500 came out on top in more of the mags than the ZL. Just the facts brother.
Because I'm not talking about what a lot of people run, or what you (or anyone) might see at any particular outing at the track. It just doesn't always happen for the incredible vast majority of people. I don't expect every stock 6spd F-body to run a 12.7 @ 110mph, but I know and recognize they are CAPABLE of that in the right hands/conditions. I personally watched a member here run a 12.99 @ 110mph with just a whisper lid all the way back in '03 with his heavy '02 WS6, never seen another get close. As big hammer so poignantly pointed out though, if it happens once, it CAN happen again. And that's all that matters. I'm not even saying that the ZL1 isn't quicker stock than all the GT500s prior to '13. But to say that they are CONSIDERABLY (I think that was the word you used) faster is ridiculous. .2 seconds (and a lower trap speed) isn't an ***-kicking, and with a tire the GT500 has the POTENTIAL to be faster with no other mods on either car. There are a ****-ton of ZL1s (especially the 6spd cars) running mid 12s, don't forget.

Just saying in general, posting dyno numbers in racing stories is irrelevent since they arent accurate. For instance people are really thinking this is a 640hp gt500 vs 670hp zl1, when its not and we dont know how much power they are truely making.

LOL at my fellow GM guys holding it down for the ZL1. ZL1 is a failure in terms of straightline performance, sorry. You guys know if the shoe was on the other foot and Ford would have released an underperforming car like that ya'll would be ******* the **** out of it. hehe

Still sorting it out a bit though......mostly nvh stuff. Seems to put power down pretty good even on a 28* day with normal street tires (nitto 555's)
And the only thing keeping my 500 out of the 10's is the 20" tires. Does that mean it is a slow car? Like your above statement.. you think a ZL-1 will win?

And your 555's do great on a 28 degree day because you dont have torque we have to deal with. In temps below 60 degrees my car now shreds the 555r's in 2nd gear at any speed. Below 40 and it shreds them in 3rd gear above 60. Near 700ft-lb torque as soon as you floor it tends to do that... but its a slow car.

I'll wait.....it has to be a hell of a list with over 200 more hp to boot.
His car isn't gutted and swiss cheesed mang. You have about a 900lb advantage on us. Physics says it takes more power for us to move more weight.

Any 2013 500 owner who tracks his car, the FIRST thing they are doing is changing pads and fluid... THAT'S IT. All it takes.

Well, you were pointing out the brakes.. like mentioned above though, most don't track them... Hell.. most owners garage them. Lots of very low mile ones out there.

Why does the discussion always turn to road courses in the street racing section? How many of you all have actually driven a car on a road course?

That's what has happened since they don't like the results of the straight line comparisons.

The argument changes to show the git'r'dun Camaro coming out on top.

You better believe if the ZL1 was faster in a straight line, it'd be splashed in someone's face any time a GT500 was mentioned.

...and LMAO at HiO saying a 5th gen has better visibility, not even being a dick with the short thing but it must be height related...I sat in a 5th gen and felt like I was in a box with slits for rear windows.
