Well the carrier is typically considered to also be the posi /locking unit only. Sounds like the set up on the gears were off.....possibly other **** going on like in cman's rear. That thing was all kinda fucked up. Took me a bit to figure out that amount of fuckery.
I wish i woulda figured it out for myself on my 9". I sent it out due to not having the time to do it and there was a bearing that was crossed wrong. But it's noisy, not terrible but bad enough i don't like it. That's what i get for not doing it myself.
My center is aluminum too. All for 2500😁. It came with a cm driveshaft and lca's. Was a good deal and even had the right gear for the bolt on ls6. The new engine will probably want nearly 1k more rpm so it might need a gear change. I was thinking 4.22s. Might just do 4.00 since i have a set of those.

that’s right where mine is peaking. 6,800 but carries to 7,3-7,400. Exact same boat as him. 4.30’s to 4.57’s changed its life.

It runs almost 60mph by the end of 1st gear. It should turn somewhere in the 7400-7800 rpm area.
What these cars really need is the 2.9x gearset for first gear.......then make it have traction.
Ima move the battery to the back at some point. I did that to the mustang and it was a noticeable difference. Never ran it at the track like that for good data tho. But really helped on the street.

I run a 18x11 out back with a 315/40 NT05R. With my QA1’s dialed in it hooks pretty hard with 4.57’s. My car doesn’t come off the cam till 2500rpm so it needed 4.57’s for better drivability alone. Added performance is just a bonus at this point.
