To tell you the truth the people who are paying 7-8 grand for a 98 and higher car got great deals but you might want to spend a little mroe for a better quality car with less miles . I bought my car 2.5 years ago for 19 with 18 thousand miles on it (previous owner was an older guy who garaged it ) and it is still in excellent condition becouse i have taked good car of it . I guess what i am trying to say is be careful you never know who beat the sh** out of the car with alot of miles on it and probally been patched together . I knwo 7 to 8 grand is a deal but you might get something that is a total pos covered with a maco paint job. Just be careful and do your research. By the way go with the ls1 you will not regret it . My neighbor has a 99gt with full exhaust and 4.10 gears and some other boltons and when i was stock right down to the paper filter i beat him by 2 cars on the street and 3 tenths at the track stock

That is an accurate account of what happened. You judge whether we were racing or not. Maybe he was just going 30% because he felt spirited and I took it wrong and then he nailed it as I passed him, I found it odd that I pulled that much and then he came freight training by. But he DID get on it before I did, how much I do not know I guess.

I could be wrong, but that is what it sounds like to me.

By the time he had the chance to punch it you were already a car ahead. Then he proceded to pull you in rather quickly.

DAMN! I bet thats it!!! I do it too (and I sound better than any LS1 I ever heard
I will miss my cammed 5.0 with headers/o/r X and flows dumped pre-axle. Even the Chebby guys roll the windows down to hear it time to time
i sure wont miss the poor mileage and slowness though, but is 13K enough for a nice M6 01-02 car?

If your going for performance and looks...I would recommend you to get one of these because they each offer both (not in any particular order either)...
'92-96 LT1 C4
'97-04 LS1 C5
'93-97 LT1 f-body
'98-02 LS1 f-body
'96-98 4v 4.6 Cobra
'99/01 4v 4.6 Cobra
'03-04 S/C 4v 4.6 Cobra
'03-04 4v 4.6 Mach 1
IMO, the 2v 4.6's are worthless if your going for a performance aspect. If you want a nice sounding car to just cruise around in, then yeah, the GT will be perfect for you. But if you want to actually make a track car, one of the above cars will do the job.

FWIW: I sold a 2000 hardtop z28 on here w/ black leather interior, disk changer, cruise control, and everything worked like new.. car had been really well maintained.
Car had a slight bit of piston slap, but nothing that anyone consider abnormal.. for first 1 min of startup or so.
I sold it for $6900. I originally purchased it for $7200 with 93k-94k on it.
You will be able to find something nice in the 10k or less range, that is for sure..
For an SS/WS^ you might have to spend closer to your 13k to get something sweet.
Later,
Josh

Nice, 60K miles would be okay with me on a clean car, so yeah, I should find what I am after if I take afew months to look.

TA's look good to me. THat is my 2nd choice. You think a 01-02 M6 TA with 70K or less miles is do-able for 13+TTL?

I got my 01 Formula with 18k on the clock for 16500, but I paid extra for the mileage obviously, you could find a much better deal but I wanted an 01 or 02 LS1 w/ less than 20k miles and I had 17 to spend so thats what I ended up with....just take your time and you will find a good deal.

Back to the original post. Let's put it this way. I never lost to a Mustang during my 2 years of F-bod ownership, streetracing and 1/4 mile racing. Did not lose to a single one, in any modded form (on my part or theirs). I must a killed about 2 dozen during that time period, and run even with an '03+ Cobra or two when my car was cam-only.
Every platform is moddable. Pick the one you like most and go from there. Heck, that fox you're driving in is a hell of a platform to make fast. Drop a 347 in there and raise some hell.
