not all LS1 guys are like that, just some. plenty of LS1 guys are cool as hell and give props no matter what. ive caught my fair share of **** from posting kills that shouldnt have happened, just recently even. every type of car has those people. imports, mustangs, sadly F-bodys too.

i personally prefer the LT1 over the ls1 (yes owned one, 2000 TA and just sold it)
i absolutely loathe the sound of it with open headers.
but, it is a good, strong motor over all, and works with mods very, very well.
to each his own, but i cant stand jags who think they have the end all of motors.

haha thanks for the props.
its a cool motor, as for the sound, everyone has an opinion, and im sure it verys car to car on sound, depending on cam and headers and mufflers.
i just see a ton more built LS1's around me because the parts are so widely available and very greatly in whats available.

I can't wait to cam my car. But, I'll be running some Pacesetter LT's, true duals without cats before I cam it. I'm not really sure what mufflers I'm going to run. I was thinking about maybe getting some Flowmaster 10 series mufflers for it or some 40 series to quiet it down a little. The universal x-pipe kit that I'm going to get has dual cutouts for when I want an ungodly loud exhaust note anyways.

good idea keeping the thing quiet when you need to. mines not driven that much anymore (well when it comes back from the body kit and paint) so i dont worry about it too much, but if i could go back and do it again, long tubes and cut outs.

i hear yah man. ive had them both, and personally just liked the LT1 better. with a very small cam (max lift 462) and a set of headers, tune and cold air i was even with LS1 cars, and im a damn convertible. match your parts right and you make some good power.

I've also heard that LT1's can sound better, I guess a deeper sound. Anyways why are you running short tubes?? I would think that with all of that power you would need long tubes.

i would love long tubes but my DS safety loop comes out at a funny angle (reinforcements on it for safety) and it would be a difficult, cluttered set up.
lose some power sure, but worth it for ease of exhaust maintenace (cat insert/detele, muffler insert/delete.)
it does in my opinion have a deeper sound.
