The coolest LS1 guys I've found are actually probably the ones over on MustangForums. There's tons of LS1 owners over there and they're all pretty cool. The ones that hate on the LT1 so much, have probably never even driven one. They just believe all the BS they hear of them being so inferior to the LS1.

i personally prefer the LT1 over the ls1 (yes owned one, 2000 TA and just sold it)
i absolutely loathe the sound of it with open headers.
but, it is a good, strong motor over all, and works with mods very, very well.
to each his own, but i cant stand jags who think they have the end all of motors.

I completely agree with you on that last part. Some people are too obsessed with the LS1 and put other people with diff cars/motors down no matter what. On the open headers part I disagree though, I love the way mine sounded with open headers. But I deff agree with your view. The LS1 is a better motor stock but by no means does that mean that a modded LT1, such as yours, wouldn't hand me my ***.

haha thanks for the props.
its a cool motor, as for the sound, everyone has an opinion, and im sure it verys car to car on sound, depending on cam and headers and mufflers.
i just see a ton more built LS1's around me because the parts are so widely available and very greatly in whats available.

I've actually been told by a few LS1 guys that the LT1 sounds better than the LS1. I'm not so sure that I believe that one, because my car sounds horrible. Well not horrible, but I wouldn't exactly call it a good sound. But, I also don't really have that nice of an exhaust setup.

I can't wait to cam my car. But, I'll be running some Pacesetter LT's, true duals without cats before I cam it. I'm not really sure what mufflers I'm going to run. I was thinking about maybe getting some Flowmaster 10 series mufflers for it or some 40 series to quiet it down a little. The universal x-pipe kit that I'm going to get has dual cutouts for when I want an ungodly loud exhaust note anyways.

good idea keeping the thing quiet when you need to. mines not driven that much anymore (well when it comes back from the body kit and paint) so i dont worry about it too much, but if i could go back and do it again, long tubes and cut outs.

i hear yah man. ive had them both, and personally just liked the LT1 better. with a very small cam (max lift 462) and a set of headers, tune and cold air i was even with LS1 cars, and im a damn convertible. match your parts right and you make some good power.

I've also heard that LT1's can sound better, I guess a deeper sound. Anyways why are you running short tubes?? I would think that with all of that power you would need long tubes.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a CC305 112lsa with 1.6rr's. But, I found a Lunati cam the other night that is also pretty tempting that's also a little bigger than the CC305. It seems kind of like a happy medium between the CC305 and CC306.

i would love long tubes but my DS safety loop comes out at a funny angle (reinforcements on it for safety) and it would be a difficult, cluttered set up.
lose some power sure, but worth it for ease of exhaust maintenace (cat insert/detele, muffler insert/delete.)
it does in my opinion have a deeper sound.
