Default Pictures of my new Founders suspension!

Just installed everything tonight.

10 Bolt was removed, stripped and painted with POR-15

All brackets were sand blasted and painted

New Founders poly/poly LCAs
New Founders poly/poly double adj. panhard bar
New eBay drilled rotors and ceramic pads
New Strano lowering springs
New Monroe Sensatrac shocks

Blasted and painted the stock calipers

I think that covers most of it... enjoy the pictures!

Everything looks GREAT, but what the **** were you thinking with the $50/set Monroe shocks?

P.S. I have the Founders LCA relocation brackets. Excellent pieces.

Looks great but ditto on the Monroe's. When I bought my SS someone had already put Sensa-Tracs on all 4 corners and they're terrible. They're just over 2 years old on stock springs and for a month now I've noticed them bottoming out and making a lot of BAD noises. I'm about to order some Bilsteins in a few weeks. Congrats on everything else though!

I was thinking the same thing about the shocks, and you're going to get a lot of poor feedback on here about that choice. I realize there's a budget for everything, but riding the bump stops, and eventually blowing out those shocks is going to pan out to regret.

This was mentioned before, and Ben Franklin is oft quoted as saying it, but I've never found the source document to verify that claim. Never the less, it's still a truism:
"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of a low price is forgotten"

Looks great dude! How does the car feel with the Founders stuff? I've been on the fence about buying an adj panhard from them... Their prices are damn good and it all looks the same as UMI/BMR/SPOHN. I mean how much different can it be, it's tubular steel....

Undercarriage looks clean, i agree with the above lose those shocks, and i wouldnt have gone with poly poly lca, you might want to get some rubber bushings.

Why is that...? Noone sells aftermarket lca's with rubber bushings.

BMR does sell lca's with rubber bushings if you request it.

Ohhh I gotcha. Why rubber, just a softer ride?

Softer ride, sort of, but it allows full articulation of the rear....something that poly LCA's prevent.

As mentioned, looks great, but the shocks might have been a mistake.

Rubber provides the best insulator against noise, vibration, and harshness. However, in regards to advantages in comparison to poly, rubber also doesn't bind up the suspension as much. Poly is sold as having the "highly desirable" trait of being low deflection.

While that may be nice for a drag car, poly severely restricts movement in anything, but pure rotation. Even pure rotation can be poor with the introduction of stiction which causes the sleeve to grab the sticky polyurethane under load. Greasing them helps until the grease goes out.

Rubber squishes and deforms to allow the movement in a twisting motion, which is required for the LCA's, among other control arms, to work right.

This doesn't even cover the cold flow, and noise problems, poly introduces. The stuff is fine for static items like trans, and engine mounts, but if you need great articulation go with a ball bearing type end, otherwise rubber is your best bet.

Thanks!

I went with the Sensatracs because I've had good experiences with them and they have a lifetime warranty. The car only sees 5k miles a year max - I'll be fine.

I chose poly/poly because I didn't want the extra vibrations from rod ends and I don't need that articulation. The car is a weekend cruiser that might see the strip twice a year. Auto-X isn't my cup of tea...

No need to over engineer everything, this car is being built with a purpose and anything is better than stock.

People beg to differ when it comes to Monroe Sensatrac's, but it's your car.

so is the exhaust capped on the one side? looks like a cool idea to have muffler or straight pipe without having to have a cutout by the y pipe? if it is, is there anyway you could get a sound clip i wanna here what it sounds like

It's a standard LS1 F-body Borla catback - you can find pics/vids if you search for Borla Catback. They come with a variety of blockoff plates with a variety of hole sizes for making the exhaust louder or quieter.

Why not stick with the stock shocks then?
What you are saying is kinda silly, like saying "Well I know I have a big cam but the stock tune is fine because I only drive it 5K a year." Ok, sure your car is not going to blow up, but its far from running "good" or correct. Better shocks will be an immediate and drastic difference the second the car moves down the street, you certainly don't need to be racing at all to tell the difference.

No need to over engineer everything,
Depending on how you look at it you already have. Do you need any of that?

this car is being built with a purpose and anything is better than stock.
Again not really the way to look at it, especially when mix-matching parts.
Would you buy an ebay electric supercharger because its "better" than not having one?

You DO need the articulation on a street driven car....

Why do people think that a properly working suspension (ie, good dampening and proper articulation) is just for auto-x people?!?
