Default tubular k-member

Is BMR the only co. selling these?

Which one would be good for a street car?

What is the weight difference between one and the stock unit?

thanx

PA Racing has one...
LG Motorsports is coming out with one...
There may be others, I'm not sure.

Probably any of them would be fine for a street car.

I have the BMR - saved ~25lbs off the stock k-member & motor mounts...

good luck!

Can't you get the road race option on the PA. "Road Race Option: Provides for extra bracing and thicker material(.120 DOM Tubing), add $150." Its a slightly different design. Thats the one I have. Its MIG welded and you can tell its been made with a jig, clean piece if you ask me. As far as feel and durabillity well see, I'm going to install mine as soon as I get a new compressor motor.

This would be a fourth that would make an aftermarket K-member

Don't know if they still manufacture them, however most of these tubular front chassis and suspension designs appear to be mostly drag race oriented. I'm still not too keen on them for use in AX or RR applications.

IMHO there is no currently available aftermarket K member that is good for a daily driver. They will make the car handle worse and will break.

Note that BMR has updated its K-member description
to be a bit less encouraging about true street use.

I think a stock K plus plasma cutter might be a better
way to go if you know what you're doing - and you
get to keep the plasma cutter. Swiss cheese style,
ya know? Take out anything that doesn't look like
strength. There certainly is a stock K-member
surplus, if you don't like how the first try comes out.

Don't know of any replacements for the stupidly
heavy motor mount pedestals though. That would
seem like a simple-enough little weight saver for
somebody to start fabbing up out of tubular and
flat stock.

I've been using the Spohn solid motor mounts with great sucess for a while now. They save a lot of weight and motor vibes are not bad at all. Car sees frequent autoX duty.

For the K-member, wait until LG comes out with there's.

We are currently working on and developing a K-Member unit. We hope to have them released in the beginning of 2006. I will be posting more information as I have it available.

But it is in the works ...please be patient!

Ryan

I wouldnt use one on the street,UNLESS it can handle the stresses of auto x and road racing. From the talk I have seen the LG piece is supposed to be durable ehough for RR and autox. I would wait.
