Just another low mileage 69 Camaro...
Well... I'm pretty new to posting on here but I've been a lurker for years. I know the wealth of knowledge and BS on here. Anyways, yeah I'm Jay and my dad long ago bought a 69 RS/Z28 Camaro off the showroom floor. He drove it off and on for about 9 years racking up about 34,000 miles on it. It's been sitting in a garage with a cover on it since 1978 and I think I've now finally convinced him to start working on it. At first he wanted to keep it all original like he got it, but after reading through my huge collection of Camaro and GM High Tech Performance mags, he's now decided to go custom with it. The interior is flawless and he's thinking about keeping the outside color White with Red stripes like it originally came. The only thing is, is that he wants pearlecent white and pearlecent red... does anyone think that will look good? I just cant picture it in my head... anyone have any pics of an old school 'camaro painted that way or with pearlecent paint? I cant wait to get started working on this car...so far we wanna do 4th gen door handles and sideview mirrors, and a pop trunk mod. What's yall's take? Anyone in San Antonio with a first gen on here? Would like to talk/ask questions. Thanks guys!

Yea, I'd leave that one alone. You can find a deal on one that needs a little work and it won't really matter what you do to it. The one you have is probably worh some decent coin. One you start changing things the price starts dropping pretty bad.

Go ahead and add a Civic front end to it and an aztec warrior on the hood if your gonna do the others! It would pretty much rice it up.
Now a fresh paint job wouldnt be a bad idea but go with the original colors, it will have so much more value if you do that.
If the engine was shot and the car was a rust bucket, then sure why not mod it but leave the damn thing alone.
If he doesnt like it the way it is then he should sell it and find something else to work on.

Well ****... lol. I guess he wants to mod it because he said he's already enjoyed it stock. I dunno... I'm kinda leaning away from a garage queen car. I've seen some sexy-*** pro touring 69s.

If its numbers matching and really only has 36k miles on it. I would'nt mess with it except back to original. or sell it for some serious coin and then go buy a non numbers car and pimp it to the hilt. But hey its your car,,,,,, and even a seasoned pro-tourer will wince at the thought of cutting up a low mile OG car.

I just talked to my dad and told em how ya'll say leave it alone... he says he's not looking to re-sell it anytime for the bookoo money they are bringing in. He says it's been his ride since new and he wants to have some fun with it. Will get pics up REAL soon. Now he tells me he only wants to change the paint on it.... I dunno. Really don't have the money to buy another 69 and then throw *** loads more cash into it when we already have one to work off of. ****... now I don't know what to do. lol

By the way... its all original number matching, original receipt, original lamented sales documents, original everything. Even the business card from the salesman he got it from. Damn... anyone wanna trade for an 02-04 Z06? lol

Please do not mess with this car, as it sits that car is worth alot of money. U start messing with originality, u will devalue it...Dont mess with it...buy something else if u want to modify....just my opinion

If he's not worried about selling it, go the pro-touring route. Check out http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/ for some good info. I could probably give you some pointers if you go that route. My '69 was undergoing the same basic treatment: LS1/6spd with a big cam, 4th gen T/A interior, 335 rear tires, updated suspension, etc. etc. $$, $$!!
