Default My Clutch is on the floor...

So yeah, I was in the middle of driving to go to work gonig north on 59. Well, I noticed that my clutch stayed in the middle, but I was still able to engage gears, albeit NOT easily. I tried to shift the least possible amount of times, but it was traffic and it did not give my clutch any mercy. So I get past 59 and I get on 610... Well, I'm still kinda forcing gears through gates, but then I shift it into 5th and the clutch wouldn't come up! It felt as if there was no fluid.

So there I was, in 5th gear, with lost hope and just paddling my way up **** creek. I figure I just need to get to work and have one of my co workers help me out. Well, I was SOOO close to victory, when some ******* IDIOT cuts me off and FORCES me to stop. Of course, I lay on my horn, slow to a stop, push my hazards, and face palm.

A few moments later, like 30 seconds, my boss somehow appears out of nowhere and helps me push my car into the gas station about 10 feet from where I stood helpless. Then some AMISH GUY, yes... AMISH, got out of his big *** F150 and helped us out by getting it pushed into a parking lane. I thank them both and they went their ways.

I proceeded to look under the vehicle and I see fluid just continuously dripping from under my transmission. I'd say about 2 drips per second. So at this point... I'm 0_0" ... I pop the hood and checked my Clutch Fluid reservoir. It was completely full. I go and pump my, now on the floor, clutch a dozen times and checked my reservoir again. Sure enough, it was significantly lower than previously checked. I checked under the car again and the fluid kept on dripping.

I did NOT like this. Not. One. Bit...

That's what I'm thinking too... The Clutch Master Cylinder works fine. It pumps fluid correctly, so it's got to be that.

Any insights on how much this will cost me to replace?

Is it one of those scenarios where one would say, "just get the whole fucken thing rebuilt"?

Can you pull on the fluid line to see if it got disconnected?

The fluid line going into the Master or the Slave?

Also, in the middle of driving normally like I do everyday, how does that happen?

,,, into the slave, look to be sure the braided line is in. A new slave with Throw out Bearing attached is usually about 100 to 120 bux. thats with you doing the work.

By the slave but check both, you should be able to see if it is disconnected, there should be a safety pin of some sort to keep this from happening though. As far as the cost of replacing the slave, i'm not sure. Maybe you can refill the reservior, have someone pump the clutch peddle and see where the fluid is leaking from. Just to make sure that the fluid isn't running down the hydraulic line and off of the trans.

So, this should be a relatively moderate skill level fix with some helpful diagrams right? I mean, with a few guidelines and tips, I could probably get this fixed myself?

Is there a tranny drop involved?

Yep if it's the slave, if you decide to do this yourself make sure you do your homework and be careful.

If your losing fluid in there, and don't fix it right a way, prepare to have to buy a new clutch as yours will soak up that fluid and become worthless.
You will need to drop the tranny to get to it (slave) Is your car a 98/99 or 2000 by chance?
Here is a link with some answers....there is a video in there too that is very helpful (and funny) I beleive im losing my TO bearing, so i will be doing the same thing.

Well, the clutch is grinding a lot... It's a 2002 Camaro SS. Its most likely going to have to go a rebuild anyways. Pretty much 90% of the transmission parts are severely worn. I do have trouble engaging gears sometimes. I'm not too technically savvy when it comes to gear boxes and what not, but I can say it doesn't shift smoothly. I kinda have to pop it into gear sometimes. Oh yeah, and reverse takes a few attempts before it finally settles in gear.

So yeah, it probably has over 120,000 miles on that transmission alone.
