Default LS1 '69 Camaro Swap

Hi All,

Recently picked up a '69 Camaro and am looking to swap in an LS1 motor with 4l60E trans.

I know what these LS1's are capable of since I also own a '00 SS as a daily and love the drivability of it.

Made a little list of some of the things I think I need to gather for the swap, but would appreciate any assistant that can be offered.

-LS1 COMPLETE W/ECM

-4L60E

-ENGINE MOUNTS

-A/C BRACKET KIT

-FUEL RAILS W/RETURN LINE

-EXHAUST HEADERS

-FUEL FILTER FITTINGS

-f-body OIL PAN "this will be modified to fit 69 application"

-A/C COMPRESSOR

-LS1 WIRING HARNESS

-FUEL TANK & PUMP

-FUEL LINES

-DRIVE SHAFT

Yeah, but I prefer to leave the '00 alone for this swap.

Thank you for sharing your swap thread. Very nice build. I was looking for an auto tranny to go with the build as well but settled on a package deal being sold which included a T56 manual.

Just acquired a Corvette LS engine with only 17k, along with a T56 transmission. The engine came with fuel rails, full Corvette front drive accessories, LS6 intake, proper motor mounts, and a modified oil plan to fit my LS swap into my 69 Camaro.

I will start the swap tomorrow by removing the current '72 Corvette 454 motor and TH400 transmission and getting the new Vette motor ready for install. Will probably install a Z06 cam with new Morel Lifters, patriot gold double springs, titainium retainers & maybe rockers and pushrods.

Read about the Impala gas tank mod on this site, so decided to try it. Did a search and found one for sale locally. Went to pick it up after work today and it was in nice condition, just needed to be cleaned up. Got talking to the gentleman selling it, and once I told him it was going into my '69 Camaro, he mentioned that he didn't want any money for the tank since it was going into one of his favorite cars. He said were in the same hobby so just take it. It was much appreciated.

Just a quick update, did not go with the plastic tank in the end since I did not want to cut up the trunk area. Went with a Rick's tank instead.

Painted some SpeedTech Performance parts at work with a little assistance from our forklift. Going to be installing a Torque Arm rear suspension. Kit came with Articu-link lower control arms and QA1 coil over shocks, along with an adjustable roll center panhard bar. Just getting the rear ready to accept the new 9" going in next week.

Looking good! I have a question, did you use a 6 cyl. gas pedal or did you go with a Lokar? Keep up the good work! Still love that Orange.

Great build! Can you tell us what headers, relocation plates, and motor mounts you used? Also, what radiator? Thanks!

Angled the proportioning valve upright for easy access and buddy installed and angled all tubing in the same direction. Thought it came out pretty nice. Also considering red valve covers instead of the black.

Wish there was another way to position the intake, but limited with the becool rad which I purchased long before I ever considered the LS swap.
