i blew my cam only 6.0 up a few weeks ago with the help from a shot of gas and decided to put a bone stock 2006 lq4 with a 100k on the clock to see what it would run in my setup(87 coupe)....heres the results 1.49 60ft 6.96@97 mph...i was pretty suprised of how well it ran with the 1 7/8 headers, victor jr intake, but i did put a smaller 700 double pumper on it...i'm thinking of putting my set of 799 heads on it and then a zo6 cam in it just to see if i could make a run at the stock internal record...what do you guys and gals think?or would this not be considered stock internal?any input would be appreciated....thanks billy

That is fantastic performance, billy!! You never cease to amaze me. I would like to point out something else to the LQ4 guys. You were the first one that I recall mentioning the #799 heads. I have a #799 head in my shop and also a set of brand new ZO6 casting # 243 heads. I had checked the CC's on the 243's at just over 65CC's and then I happened to notice the #799 head has a different and smaller combustion chamber. You can tell just by looking at it. Since the ports are the same as the #243 heads, I would think these would work great on the LQ4's to raise the compression. I didn't have time right then to check the size of the chamber, but I will in the next couple days and report back. I don't know if ALL #799's have these small chambers....these came off a '05 GMC Tahoe 5.3....an aluminum block GEN lV engine. But I would guess you already knew all this..eh, billy?

p.s. i tried a dual plane intake when i was testing saturday with this stock 6.0 and it ran with in a hundreth of the victor jr shifting at 6k...so i imagine on a street car with a stick or a tight converter it would be the way to go...thanks billy

and deep gears, LOL. And, yes..I'm getting closer to pulling the L92's. One of the questions I was going to ask was what RPM you were shifting at...but you already answered that, and I hope you do try the ZO6 cam before you quit......good info, billy...THANKS! Ron
