(I am looking to play with them at their game)Car is currently in Fl. but I am bringing it back to Ca. in 4 months, so it time for another smog legal Ca. swap to hit the roads.

I am going to be swapping in a LS1 00-02 or 04-05 with AFR 205 heads and some custom cam to start with along with LS1 edit mated to a 4l65E to start. I just want to get past the Ca smog Ref first.
looking to match the performance of my current combo. so I will be looking for at least 400 rwhp on Ca pump gas with LS1 motor
My car currently has a 8.8 ford cobra IRS modified to fit in my subframe. So I dont have that weak of a rear other than the CV axles now.
And hey, if things work out well with the swap. I already have a intercooler for it, if I want to Blow on it a little(FI)

I'm working on a fully-forged LQ4 with a T4 S400-74 turbo. I'm looking for mid-to-high 9's this year.
The vehicle receiving the swap is my low-mileage 1989 Trans Am GTA (link points to an older page with most of my mods listed...). Up until now, it had received most of the suspension mods that are available (incl. good tires), & I'd strengthened the rear a little bit, but the engine only had bolt-ons. And considering how "less than pleased" I was with the "tuneability" of the stock ECM, the new drivetrain became a no-brainer.
The drivetrain going in actually IS slightly different than the "normal" LS1 swap - I'm buying one of the new/zero-mile 6.2L aluminum VVT-equipped L92 engines, which will be paired up with a newly-freshened T-56 by Six Speeds, Inc.
I'll be spending a little bit of time breaking the new engine & clutch in, but once that's done, I'm planning on finding out what it'll do at the track!

Wish me luck...

Update: The 5.3 was nice, but I had a better idea: 427ci LSX block with L92 heads. The 12 bolt was replaced with a 9" from that other manufacturer. The '32 should be able to keep up with traffic now. Btw, the 5.3 is going into a '65 Olds Vista Cruiser. Ha! 2005 5.3 DoD LH6/4L60E
