All that work for something hopefully you'll never have to use.

now the fun begins...started on the floor stuff

figured it would be best to cut out sections of floor so I can fit the bars and weld all the way around. Started on the passenger floor diagonal.

this section of floor is pretty darn small...but it weighs 3.8 lbs
I pulled out my calipers...in the single-wall areas....the floor is 0.057" thick!!!

That floor used to be your frame. Are you planning on tinning a new floor to save some weight?

need to look closer at class rules...some require factory floorboards.

Looking good Fireball.

Definately different than my 25.2 cage, that I'm happy it actually meets the new 25.3 specs without doing anything, so I'm getting it re-certed.

Keep up the good work!

Brian how/what did you use to get the stock seat supports off the factory floor? Any way to do it without drilling 1000000 holes with a spot weld cutter?

Damn, I was hoping there was a way to get that off the floor without creating a big block of swiss cheese. I guess I could try grinding on all the welds and then chisel it off.. but that seems like it's gonna be a real pita too... and take damn near forever.

use a spot weld cutter. cuts only the panel you are removing...an air chisel helps speed up the process too...

little bit of progress today...

cut out the rest of the passenger side floorboard...was kinda tricky since my torque arm mount (now the center crossbar of the cage) was tied into the factory transmission mount area...so I had to cut around it

while the floor was out was a bit easier to get to the areas I couldn't before on the door bars and gussets, so I finished welding them up. Also got the passenger floor diagonal in....

Tomorrow I'll probably remove the rest of the floor so I can do the driver side diagonal, seat support and center X. Retrofitting an existing cage is a royal PITA
