Thanks, it's cheaper for me to order some extra parts then bring the car to a shop. Let's hope for the best. I wanna finish the street tuning so I can start stepping on it.
I should be in your area this summer. I'll stop round to see the beast if I can. So happy to see you at this stage, if anyone has earned to own a ballin boosted LS, its you
Actually probably good to switch it up, I know some local friends are sick of me talking about this hose issue.
Yeah I have been wanting to coat the hot sides, and have 2 local-ish options. Lot of folks go gray/silver, any reason I can't go black? I wanted first run it a bit and make sure there are no leaks.

Here’s the problem with running it first, some places won’t coat it after its been run because they can’t get the tubing clean enough for coating on the inside. Gray or silver/polished can get dull in spots over time. For me that’s enough reason to wrap it.
Ah did not know that. Have not run the car that much, maybe a total of 2 hours?
So today was productive. I was able to extract the broken housing bolt, I was able to get hold of the stub and slowly work it out. I then tried different fitting combinations. What is working pretty decent is a 60 up top (I had a 45 before) and the 30 down the bottom that I was already using. I took another 2/3 inch of hose off too. Trial fitting went well, I don't have to put the top fitting on the housing first I am able to just thread on the fitting which is a huge improvement. I also changed the stat, gutted another I have. It fits more snug than the other one I was using.
I'll bolt it up tomorrow and then try filling it and burping it again. Fingers crossed. If this does not work I'll just run a regular hose and have a local buddy cut/weld the lower bung.
Look ahead, I want to drive the car a bunch, figure out what's good and what needs a little attention. There are some nitty natty things like brake pedal height that I might tweak. But if the cooling system works out I can get back with Andrew B and do some driving and tuning, and then double check my big fuel pump, and how it's config'd, and then try the car on 10-15 lbs.
Is it just me or was putting a car together and racing and driving a one or two week project? Are we old or just like to do things right the first time?
I'm willing to be a hack on certain aspects of a car, and that list is by no means short, but I have to have a solid cooling system.
Well I got up late today, rolled out the garage and 3 hours later, my revised hose setup is in and it's not leaking even with the funnel setup holdin about a quart in it. So I called it a good day.
Great day here on South side, hope you to at least make some blocks today! Spent the day cleaning up and cutting out the roll bar from 1988! Soon soon soon
Was a killer day to work on cars for sure, tomorrow supposed to be just as nice, gonna take my '10 out for a drive tomorrow.
Checked, still all dry. I even buttoned everything back up. Might run the '67 for a bit tomorrow afternoon and torture myself. But mainly to run coolant in it.
Assuming that's all good (heat makes stuff seal even better riiiight), I'll ring up Andrew to pick up on the tuning, we need to make sure the Holley and my big 2nd pump (Weldon 2345A) are communicating.
I need to burp the cooling system, changed out the lower hose to a configuration that fits a lot better. 16AN is hard to work with that's for sure. Picked up a turbo blanket from a buddy who never used it, fits decent.
