Default Any LS1 Carb engines out there?

Is anyone running the programable ignition marketed by MSD & Edelbrock?
If so, can you give me some tech info on it? Is there a place to pick
up an 8cyl ignition pulse in order to run a vintage street rod tach?
Care to scan the installlation / tech sheet info for me?
Thanks in advance,
Mike V

ill be doing this on my 408 that i get in soon...

you use the stock coil packs.... and MSD gives you software to use to control the timing....

from what i can see the MSD 6010 is a really trick piece... i cant wait

the wiring harness is extremely simplified its all wrapped in black loom...
it also comes with a tach signal wire, built in 2step, and built in retard function for nitrous.

Could I get you to scan it if it isn't too many pages?
I'm mostly interested in picking up the tach pulse and exactly
what it consists of. MV

thanke Ty-Ty13, got the fax.
The MSD unit looks like it clearly has a 12v square-wave tach signal.
That opens the door to to "fuel-only" computers if say, you don't
want to run the factory PCM in a street rod or...<?>.

I hope I did okay on the MSD 6010. I got it for $269 from Midwest Engine. It's one of the few NON- "clearance/junkyard" things I've bought in a while. My Zero-mile 4.8 assembly-line crate engine was $1,000 from a liquidater. I'd do that differently and get a used 5.3 in hindsight, but it's here. I'm using the EFI intakle and managing the fuel with an early 90's GMECM because I have many laying around. NA at first, but twin-turbo as soon as things are ironed out. I have pairs of both 87GN and 91 Syclone units ready to go. The Syclone units are actually larger on both wheels than the GN units, which surprised me. I still need to find 42-ish lb injectors cheap. Does anyone know what the 2001 MY 4.8-5.3 truck injectors are rated at?
The truck project is at www.enzoco.com/mike/truck/

It's a 1946 Truck, so I' probably okay from an emmisions standpoint.
Hydraulic brakes were considered hi-tech in those days

Hey,

I'm doing this too, in my '47 Ford coupe! One thing I've found out: The MSD 6010 box is defintely NOT the same as the Edelbrock box included in their manifold kit. The Edelbrock box is a stripped down version of the MSD box with none of the extra features (2 step, vacuum/boost, programmable timing curves, or PC link function). The only thing that controls timing on the Edelbrock box is a preset "pill" that plugs in (they give you 6 different ones).

HTH,

Russ

Any info on pricing and availabilty of the front cover? I'm just trying to justify having bought the MSD as the cheapest solution.
