Exactly. Eddy brake (if it has one) loading/ramp rate/percentage, temp, humidity, correction factor...blah blah blah....ALL matters.

The toughest parts of the whole equation on T's car right now are 1)fuel pump,2)trans,3)Rear end/tires and driveline.....so he's going to be VERY limited. I'm actually expecting to run out of fuel pump VERY early...so I'll be setting the rev limit accordingly until we have time to swap in the dual pumps. So for now: stock pump,no N20,low rev limit. True numbers known for his setup are a ways off for now....but as I stated before, it should be in the 480-ish region once everything is as it should be. Anything else is just icing...

Right now, the goal(s) are just to get it back on the road to get some miles on it....and try to fill T's shoes with Helium to keep the car happy/alive.

Glad she's up and running man. I think the trap speed will be the real indicator, at least more so than a dyno number. I've seen supposed 500rwhp cars only trap 120, and I've seen 400rwhp cars trapping 128. Time will tell, lets hope for a higher trap speed. Obviously not getting anywhere close to a 10 sec timeslip with that 10 bolt lol....

hey guys its been a while so I thoughtid update yall on my project. ok so ditched the idea of doing some ridiculous huge stroker..whenever I come close I just cant see blowing that much cash on a dumb engine. but im upgrading what I have, I now have all most common boltons like underdrive pully and thermo. bought a new intake its a black fast 92/92 ported by vengeance. might sound dumb since I had the 90 but **** it I wanted the black ported 92. gmmg exhaust, kooks 1 7/8 headers( I pretty much had to replace my headers the way my old ones were set up) 36 lb injectors, 85mm maf. that's all I can think of for now but if I sell my truck soon, im thinking strongly about buying a set of AFR 210 or 215cc mamofied heads and possibly a new cam to match...im also fiddling around with the idea of a 383 rotating assembly but again depends on how much my truck goes for. anyway that's the story of my mysterious SS. what has everyone been up to?

There you are Joe. Save some cash and get some 243s or 799s. Been hanging in there. I guess you've been out to Sea?

I currently have ported 243s. But I want a set of bad **** heads. And if I do heads it would not take much more work to get a new cam in there. Plus I bet I would make a ton more power getting a cam specked by tony that are tailored to the AFR heads. Then after summer is over I want to maybe do the 383 rotating assembly...I could foresee future problems with waiting to do the383. Being that my h/c combo would be suited for 383 not 346. I guess the way to do that would be to either just do it all at once. Or just run a cam and heads that are too big for the car for a couple months. He'll I dont know yet. I know for sure I wana redo my heads and cam for sure tho. It would be nice to run 475-480rw out of stock cubes lol

He'll ya dude, it's a good thing I decided to ditch the monster cube idea. I sure Ill be plenty happy redoing my whole setup for something put together really well and I'll save a but ton of cash. I'm gonna get in touch with tony about my plans and see what he thinks. Either way my car is coming along and shouLd be on the road soon. Btw,I saw your idle clips ....man that ****** sounds bad!! The tune will tame that right down tho

480rwhp from stock LS1 cubes, it seems everyone has delusions of that at some point. Hope you have ARP rod bolts at least.

I've seen a couple reach that in the dyno section. A guy with a 02' WS6 hit 476 at the rear with a EPS 230/234 cam, full bolt ons, Fast 92/92 and AI CNC'd 243 heads. It's definitely a rarity though.

Certainly not saying its impossible. But the <5% of heads/cam/bolton LS1's out there that hit that or above just doesnt seem like a realistic goal IMO. On top of that, the guys hitting those numbers are usually spending boookooo bucks and time on tuning, refining, tweaking, experimenting etc...

There are plenty of generous dyno's out there too. In the end I think some people get too hung up on a dyno number. I'd much rather have a 400rwhp car that runs a good track number than a supposed 500 rwhp car that gets embarrassed by cam only cars. But thats just me.

I agree mike about the 400rwh car that runs solid. I think that's why I haven't spent the money on upgrading my 241 heads...the car has amazing torque and power throughout the entire RPM range. Although another 40-50hp sounds nice. BTW, I'm right by your neighborhood looking at a house for sale off Park Crest ave.

Some people shoot for dyno numbers and some track numbers.

Seemingly never. Car is on hold indefinitely until I either get a raise, win the lottery, or the gal gets a job and starts bringing in money again. The car just got too expensive for the amount of time I drove it so it was hard to justify the $$$$/enjoyment ratio.

Started getting into other things for now that are less expensive. I like modding my Tahoe and doing mild upgrades to that lately. Thinking about some headers, exhaust, mild cam and possibly a T56 swap (someday) since I have a spare one sitting here. I'd love to get. 20-21mpg on those trips to Montana.

You'd have a helluva time selling it with a t56 lol everybody would be like you can't get one with a manual. I think it would be awesome though.

Its actually a pretty straight forward swap. Not any harder than converting an Fbody from auto to manual. The 99-06 4.8l trucks had a manual trans option, so the pedals and master cylinder are available. The trucks with T56 conversions sell fast.... I wouldnt sell it anyway, I love the Tahoe.

Here's some pics of the T56 conversion. These are truck pics, but the center console and interior is identical to my Tahoe.
