Default ls1 in a mustang

first off my name is justin i own a 95 mustang gt with a 347 125 shot suspension etc etc but had some bad luck and wrecked it. but i am wanting to get a 87-93 notchback and want to put a ls1 in it and 6spd.

first off what has to be done for this to work?
how much would a ls1, wiring harness and 6spd tranny cost to get?
are they any kits to make this a simpler drop in process?
what about the driveshaft and some mounts?
has very many people down this swap that i may contact anyone particluarly on this forum?
what about the clutch assembly?

any and all answers would be appreciated thanks for the help

Research, and lots of it.. I am using a AJE racing tubular K for the main swap. You can use the factory a-arms but I am going all out.

how much would a ls1, wiring harness and 6spd tranny cost to get?
Depends, for a used stock motor/t56 - $3000 - $4500

I have a 99 PCM and harness for M6 for sale for $320 ( I went carb)

are they any kits to make this a simpler drop in process?
NO... unfortunatly

what about the driveshaft and some mounts?
I havent' gotten that far yet, but the motor mounts are stock 4.6 motor mounts with an extension welded on the single side (simple)

has very many people down this swap that i may contact anyone particluarly on this forum?
Save my info, you will see lots more info/pics once all my parts arrive and my motor comes back from being built. Good luck!

i appreciate it. like i said i am new to the forum and i was sure the people who knew about it would chime in. also i am certain it would be an expensive swap so i am trying to figure out what i will need and start working my way to that stage of building the car. also i thought aje sold k-member kits that would work are they still 600 bucks?

AJE makes everything for the swap.. The reason I chose granatelli a-arms is price and availability.

I went with a victor jr. intake for holley pattern but did not buy the kit edelbrock sells. I bought the seperate controller through msd (MSD-6010) that comes with pro data+ software so I can tune it with my laptop. The MSD box that comes with the edelbrock unit only has plug-in style timing chips and no bells and wistles.

i just bought the car in my sig below. it's the one built by lx1 you'll find in several of the links listed above by zigroid. if you're local, you're welcome to come take a look at the car before i start stripping it for a more race type setup. right now it's still a stock ls1/6spd combo as i bought it. however, the car already has a nice set of 1 3/4" long tube header, 2 1/2" Dr. Gas "X" & dual Flowmasters with dumps & K&N filter.

pray hrd,
do you have to purchase a k-member specifically designed for use with a manual rack or will the flaming river rack work with any k-member?

I've got 4.6L mounts so I'll need a 4.6L k-member. I see QA1 kmembers are pretty cheap and seem to be one of the lightest, most drag oriented k-members. will the flaming river manual rack work with a QA1 k-member?

Im going for a bit of a crazy setup. I got an LS2 long block without rods and pistons. I bought some LQ4 rods and pistons and L92 heads. those, with GM headgaskets should give me around 9.5:1 compression ratio. I want to run mid 11s on 87 pump gas then when I get the funds I want to go with forced induction. if I could pick what today it'd probably be a D1SC but who knows in the future. the engine will be controlled by accel gen7 DFI.
Mine will be backed by a 4L80E though, not a t56, th400, or 4L60E. I just dont want to give up overdrive nor do I want to deal with a weak 4L60E. ive already had one go out twice.

why not go with an inexpensive stock reworked computer instead of a high dollar unit? if you're concerned about it not keeping up, or tunability issues, know this. a friend of mine on here has a twin turbo setup making 850 rwhp on pump gas and 96# injectors using efi live if i remember correctly & an acceleronics injector driver. however, you'll probably be fine with 72#-83# max. sounds like a good go fast plan either way.

oh, and as stated, any "K" will work with the F/R rack.

my LS2 long block didnt come with a wiring harness or pcm.
pcm: 100-150
speartech custom wiring harness: 750
efilive or some other tuner: 400

so the total comes out to be about $1200-$1300.

considering I bought the accel gen7 DFI w/ wideband and sensor (which all is practically brand new) from a board member for $1400, I think I spent the extra $100 over going with a stock LSx pcm/wiring harness wisely

oh, ok. i thought the speartech piece was $600, but free to do it yourself. but even with the pcm & harness & efi live, it's still not a bad deal considering you only paid $1400. now had you paid $2500ish, it would have certainly been a different story.

does anyone know where you can buy ls1 ls2 motors? i would be going carbed so that would make the swap easier.

i would also prefer to get an engine and auto trans to drop in.
