If I understand what's happening there, you're letting more of the exhaust get the car spool the turbo, but are bleeding the boost so that you have the amount you want to leav on controlled, but the turbo's already more up to speed, so you can bring the power in sooner, if the track and car will allow.
Is that correct?

That also makes sense.
What I was thinking along the lines of... I can see working very good. Control the boost off what the turbo's making, and let it make as much as possible.... certainly would decrease the wait time out of the gates to get it up to speed. Something to try.

If the engine turbo system is setup properly which more than 50% aren't, boost will come in at 28-32# of boost per second. So if you leave on 8# of boost, at 1 second you could have 38# of boost which is way more than any radial can handle. On a fast radial car you need to have all the boost in between 180 and 240' out.

Making good progress...
The next two weeks should be really good. The intercooler pipes are almost 100% done, the tube from the turbo to the firewall is done, I've got a small section to add to the feed to the intercooler and just weld the v-bands on the feed and return to the motor.
Started plumbing the wastegates and blow off valves, just need to figure out where to mount the solenoids. My buddy Joe @ Tempest racing is going to start on the fuel tanks this weeks, hopefully they will be done by the end of the week. Strange called on the axles, they should be here tuesday/wednesday. I got the driveshaft loop bent so once the rear gets 100% centered I'll weld that in. I went ahead and ordered 2 more 4" elbows to finish off the exhaust, the 5" tubes have such a large radius, I can't sneak the tube past the dry sump pulley. Once the mockup gets done, I'll pull everything out and touch up the chassis and throw her back together, paint will have to wait.
Talking to some of the local guys the outlaw radial cars are starting to hit the track and the competition is going to be tough as last year. Last year you had to run 4.85s to just make the show at a few of the races. This year with the changes that everyone has made to their programs its likely to see a handful of cars in the 4.6-4.7 range. Some of the local guys....Ritchie Stine in Rickey Fox's 700" Fulton powered mustang going 4.74, Francis Johnson with his 6xx BB going 4.70 with 300# more weight, Scott Bitzer is coming with a BB and supercharger, Matt Butrim's got a new big block supercharged setup coming last year they went into the 70s, John carter Big block twin turbo corvette is still working the setup but he has been into the 60s, Al Marlow is always tough, on 275s he has been 4.93s, 4.78-4.80 on the big tires Who knows who else will show @ MIR, they always have stiff competition.

The right axles finally came in and eliminated two problems, the tires were rubbing the fenders at the back corner when the car was at normal ride height so I had to jack up the back of the car, now the suspension is at the right height for how the suspension is setup.
