Default Recovered My Stolen Car! But Will Not Start.

My car was stolen 10/27/08 from school, but it was recovered today in the garage of an abandoned house. Here's the original thread on it: https://ls1tech.com/forums/southern-members/1009075-another-stolen-fbody-new-orleans.html

I guess I should consider myself somewhat lucky since the car hasn't been chopped to pieces yet. The only things the ******* did so far is: steal my grille, stereo, toolset, put on two C5 rims on one side of the car while leaving the other side with my ZR1s. But the most important thing is they messed up the steering column, wires under the dash, and whatever else car thieves usually do I guess.

The car cannot be started since they screwed all that up, and I'm wondering what I should do and if I can fix it myself for now before taking it to the stealership. There has got to be a way to start the car right now, because the vehicle was apparently running before they stashed away into the garage. I will attach pics, so tell me what you guys think! thanks. They were taken with a cellphone so it's not that great quality.

missing fuses... i don't know what all of them are, but i remember one was "horn", and one other one is "etc or ect", what is that supposed to be?

fuses on the driver's side. they pulled the cover off so i don't know which ones were taken off.

Douche bags.

If you have insurance with a fairly high comprehensive deductible it will make no real difference. The cost will be on your hands, depending on what they estimate the damages at.

I would estimate this at what the insurance estimator will estimate this. Which is about 1500 Dollars or so. If you claim this, it might be benificial to you. You might get back about a k, still depending on your deductible and if you have comp. coverage.

Good luck, bro. . . . . .

Recovery vehicles are usually considered total losses, are they not?

No, only when the dmages exceed the actual cash value - or the vehicle was involved in a crime < then it is collected for eveidence in most cases.

My deductible is set at $1k so I'm aware all or most of the costs will be in my hands... but do you think it would realistically cost anywhere near a grand? I'm no mechanic, and even worse with electronics, but it doesn't seem like it should cost that much just to get the vehicle fixed to the point it can get started up and running, unless it costs that much to fix whatever damage was done to the steering column and/or vats..?

It should cost you about 500 Bucks to do the repairs yourself.

I was talking about the insurance estimate < which is quite a bit higher than that.

All you need is a certain kind of resistor - put it inline with the vats system (I think the two wires are orange) and it bypasses the "security" chip. The little thing in your key is actually just a resistor.

If you want, tomorrow I'll take pics of my fuses so u can match them up

Man that hurts my feelers to see that thing all torn up. I would ****** kill somebody if they tried to steal my golden temptress (my name for my z). Wish you the best. Good luck with it.
