another thing..What I meant by the vipers&c5 statement is that the ls1 has more potential with less mods, however both the lt1 and ls1 have a lot of potential and can be made to hang with the vips and vettes

Could somebody please show me proof that the LT1 has more power at the bottom end than an LS1??? I was always under the impression that yes the LT1 has more power down low than up high, for that particular motor. The LS1 has more power up high. That alone doesn't not mean the LT1 has more power down low than the LS1. I think I am confusing myslef, somebody throw me a rope here?

The Powerbands are different..the LT1 has more power in the lower RPM's than the LS1..the LS1 has higher numbers overall, and has them higher in the RPM's.

And when was the last time you saw a "low-rpm" race.. Racing from 1000-3500 rpms?

When I originally posted this forum I only wanted information on the LS1.Since i do not have one I wanted to know about them. WHAT I DID NOT WANT IS A BUNCH OF BICKERING BETWEEN LT1 AND LS1 GUYS. WE SHOULD UNITE AGAINST THE REAL ENEMIES, THE MUSTANGS AND IMPORTS.

Exactly, we already know the facts, but either way the LT1 can still be built fast, and stock beats mustangs

Thats why I said get one of each so you can get a better idea of each cars positive points. I love em all. My LT1 cars are fun for drop top cruising and strip and the LS1 is mostly 10second 1/4 mile action and an occasional weekend brawl.

No offense intended here but perhaps you should have searched instead of starting a thread. This subject has been covered many times and almost always gets into an argument.

And don't go picking on Mustangs. At least they are american muscle. I think of Mustangs as our brutha from a different *****. I think even one of the mods here owns a fast Mustang. Cough, unit213, cough. We don't want to **** him off or he'll hit you with the ban stick

Ok maybe he wouldn't, but he does have a fast Cobra which IMO deserves all due respect.

But I'm with you on imports. I don't mind the clean and fast ones. But the riced out ones with giant wings and fart cans make me want to

Indeed. I'm adding this thread to my list. Any thread with both ls1 and lt1 in the title will inevitably become the same thing.

Why build/keep an LT1?
Why do you guys keep holding on to your lt1s?

LS1 cars tend to start the power band later and peak around 4000rpm, it keeps that level of torque until 5500, even then the fall off to the rev limiter is gradual. Whenever you hear the area under the curve, you can be sure the ls1 has it.

The feel though in low rpm driving feels weaker than an LT1 as well. Even as it ramps you up to and beyond a stock lt1 power, you never really "feel" it as much as the LT1.

If you roll raced an LT1 vs a LS1 in stock form, the LS1 would be taken off the line but the LS1 would probably reel it in quickly and then pull away like a run away freight train.
When I first got mine and it was bone stock this is exactly how my races against full bolt on Lt1 auto's went.
